Katrina & Liam's
Rustic Bushland Wedding at Jarrahfall Bush Camp
Some love stories aren’t rushed; they simply unfold in their own time. For Katrina and Liam, the journey began back in high school.
“We did things a little out of order…high school sweethearts turned homeowners, dog wranglers, job jugglers, got engaged, and then baby wranglers. Now, after 19 years of chaos, love, and unmatched socks, we finally got married.”
Their September wedding at Jarrahfall Bush Camp in Dwellingup was every bit as warm, genuine, and joy-filled as the couple themselves. With 100 guests, including children, the celebration had a rustic, laid-back feel that reflected their easygoing nature and love for the outdoors.
Set among the bushland, their ceremony took place in the heart of the state forest, where the sunlight filtered softly through the trees. “It honestly felt a bit magical,” they shared.
“The weather was perfect, the vibe was relaxed, and being out there in nature made everything feel grounded and real. It was everything we hoped for, simple, natural, and full of love.”
After the ceremony, guests made their way to the reception hall, where a warm wooden ceiling, glowing fairy lights, and a crackling outdoor fire pit set the tone for a night of celebration.
The natural bush setting created such a beautiful, relaxed atmosphere,” Katrina said. “When the fairy lights came on and the fire pit was glowing, it just felt magical.”
Choosing Dwellingup was an easy decision.
We honestly fell in love with the venue as soon as we saw it,” they shared. “Dwellingup’s such a cute little town, we’ve been going there for years and always have a great time. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful the venue was. It truly was the perfect location for a wedding.”
They also loved the ease of having everything in one place. “It was convenient for everyone to get to, and having everything on-site made the day so easy and enjoyable,” Katrina said. With accommodation ranging from dormitory-style rooms to camping under the stars, guests could stay close and make a full weekend of it.
Working with the Jarrahfall team made planning simple and stress-free. “Amy and the team were fantastic, they were always friendly and kept in regular contact throughout the process. Their checklist was incredibly helpful, reminding us of everything we needed to plan or organise and when each task needed to be done.”
They had only looked at one other venue before finding Jarrahfall, but once they arrived, the choice was clear. “As soon as we saw Jarrahfall, our decision was made. It offered everything we dreamed of, all in one beautiful location.”
One of their favourite aspects of the venue was the flexibility. “Being able to supply our own alcohol and celebrate for as long as we wanted made the whole day feel so personal and laid-back,” Katrina said. The staff went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. “It felt like a private, intimate celebration where we could truly enjoy every moment.”
When asked if there was one part of the day they’d love to relive, Katrina didn’t hesitate.
“Honestly, I’d relive the whole day if I could. It was incredible from start to finish, full of amazing memories, and celebrating with all our loved ones made it extra special. We just wish it could’ve lasted longer.”
Reflecting on their wedding, Katrina summed it up perfectly. “It was the perfect place for us, relaxed, beautiful, and filled with great memories. I would absolutely recommend Jarrahfall Bush Camp to other couples because it offers the perfect mix of natural beauty, flexibility, and a relaxed, fun atmosphere. The setting was magical, the staff were amazing, and being able to bring our own alcohol and party as long as we liked made it feel so personal and relaxed.”
After 19 years of love, laughter, and life together, Katrina and Liam’s wedding at Jarrahfall Bush Camp was everything they had imagined, a celebration that was simple, heartfelt, and utterly unforgettable.
