Monique & Alec

High School Sweethearts & Woodland Magic

For Monique and Alec, May 23, 2026, was far more than just a wedding date, it was a milestone nearly a decade in the making. Having first met in high school, the couple officially tied the knot at Jarrahfall Bush Camp on their exact nine year anniversary. While many brides spend years searching for the ideal location, Monique’s heart was set on a forest celebration long before the proposal. Ever since she was 15 years old, after seeing photos from a friend’s cousin’s wedding in the region, she knew that Dwellingup was where her own love story would celebrate its biggest chapter.

To bring their dream of a bespoke, bohemian, and rustic wedding to life, the couple booked Jarrahfall Bush Camp, a Dwellingup Weddings venue. The venue provided the perfect canvas for a whimsical forest atmosphere, offering a blank slate that allowed Monique and Alec to bring in a dream lineup of local vendors and truly tailor every detail to their vision.

The festivities extended far beyond a single evening, turning the weekend into an unforgettable three day celebration with their 100 guests. The night before the wedding, friends and family, including loved ones who had travelled all the way from England and Queensland, gathered at Jarrahfall Bush Camp for a massive cook up around the campfire, allowing everyone to connect and relax before the main event.

On the day itself, the atmosphere was completely chilled and filled with love. Personal touches made the setting extra special, none more so than the breathtaking floral arrangements crafted by Monique’s mum. Guests soaked in the woodland setting at Jarrahfall Bush Camp, complete with local kangaroos making casual appearances for photos, before moving to a reception hall beautifully lit by twinkling festoon lights.

A standout team of vendors helped bring the couple’s vision to life. Capturing every magical moment on camera.

The celebration wrapped up the following morning in true relaxed Dwellingup fashion, with everyone gathering in their cosy on site accommodation at Jarrahfall Bush Camp to recount the night’s best moments over fresh brews from the Little Sunshine Coffee Co van.

Reflecting on their journey, Monique credits the team at Jarrahfall Bush Camp for being so supportive and helpful with every question along the way. For a high school romance nine years in the making, a whimsical weekend under the canopy at Jarrahfall Bush Camp was the ultimate way to start forever.
